The HI-TAC CLAMP  System was born from experience in the North American collision repair business. Mr Markarian began to experiment with new repair production techniques to address changing industry requirements. Traditional auto body repair clamps had not evolved from the repair of vehicles. The early clamp systems did not keep up with the need for upper and lower body repair, and were not well suited to address the need to improve repair efficiency and body shop productivity. Clamps needed to be compact, universal, and easy to work with to enable faster and more accurate repairs.

The development of the HI-TAC CLAMP® System was based on field research, which confirmed that technicians preferred to avoid complicated clamps and that they wanted to work 'smarter' and not 'harder'. Design experiments were done, and several approaches were tried. Ultimately a compact, universal and easy to use clamp system that eliminated the need for the heavy, expensive clamps, was created. Hi-Tac Clamp Corporation continually does research into body shop efficiency and profitability.

The company is privately owned and managed by Joe Markarian, the founder of the Collision Repair Clamp System.
